Conference Locale: Travel & Rooms
The conference will be held at Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp)’s Instituto de Estudos da Linguagem (IEL) in Campinas, São Paulo. Specific details (regarding rooms and scheduling) will be posted ASAP. Follow the link to the left for this information (when it becomes available).
*Note: travelers arriving from countries outside Brazil will most likely need a visa to enter.
The APL has secured a large block of room blocks at the Casa do Professor Visitante (CPV)—located on campus. To book a room at the CPV, use the following link. When booking simply note that you are attending the APL Conference. These rooms will remain available until all are booked—on a first-come basis.
Another hotel option near campus is Matiz. Otherwise, the major bulk of hotels are found in the downtown area some distance from campus.
Registration Information
All participants must be registered for the conference by June 1st, 2026. After June 1st we will post a final draft of the program; only participants who have registered will be included on the program. No further changes will be made to the program after this date.
Registration fees are listed below. As the success of the conferences depends upon the APL’s ability to recoup costs (related to keynotes, travel, room, AV equipment, food, etc.) we ask all participants to select the highest fee they can reasonably afford.
Yearly income over 80,000 USD: $250 USD
Yearly income over 60,000 USD: $150 USD
Yearly income over 40,000 USD: $125 USD
Yearly income under 40,000 USD: $50 USD
Conference participants do not need to be members of the APL to attend or present. However, only active members in good standing can submit article-length versions of their papers for consideration in the next volume of the APL’s Textures series (published by Rowman & Littlefield). Further details about Textures and the submission process are included below. Membership also includes a copy of the latest volume of Textures.
Membership fees are as follows:
Professional: $100 USD
Student: $75 USD
To purchase your membership and pay registration please click on the link to the left. Registration includes coffee and snacks between sessions. Lunch is not included.
We are planning a banquet, though, at Estância Grill in Campinas. To attend, participants much purchase a ticket (@ $30 USD). More information TBA. You will have the option to purchase your ticket when you register. To ensure a seat at the banquet, you must purchase your ticket(s) by June 1st, 2026.
Conference Book Submission
As always, accepted participants (who are also current members of the APL) are encouraged to submit an article-length version of their presentation to be considered for inclusion in a conference-themed volume of the APL’s Textures series. The volume will be in English only, edited by Fabio Akcelrud Durão, and published by Rowman & Littlefield. To be considered for inclusion, please use the link on the left to send your submission (i.e., 6-8,000 words in Chicago NB Style) by the last day of the conference: July 17, 2026. You must have a current APL membership at the time of submission.
Please note: Submission does not guarantee inclusion in the volume. To ensure quality and cohesion, the editor will approach all submissions selectively.
To submit your essay for consideration, please use the link to the left. If you have questions, please contact Fabio Akcelrud Durão (fadurao@unicamp.br).
